This test screens for the sickle cell trait or sickle cell disease, a genetic condition that causes RBC’s to form an abnormal, crescent shape. It helps identify carriers and patients affected by this inherited blood disorder.

ESR measures how quickly red blood cells settle at the bottom of a test tube over one hour. A faster-than-normal rate can indicate inflammation in the body, helping detect infections, autoimmune conditions, and chronic inflammatory diseases.
