How to prepare

  1. 1
Fasting required: Do not eat or drink anything except water for 9-12 hours before the test.
  2. 2
Diet & Alcohol: Avoid heavy, greasy, or high-fat meals and all forms of alcohol for at least 24 hours before the test, as these can temporarily elevate your triglyceride levels
  3. 3
Inform about medications: Consult your healthcare provider about your current medications. Certain drugs like steroids, diuretics, and some oral contraceptives can affect your lipid levels.
  4. 4
Avoid strenuous exercise (such as heavy weightlifting or long runs) for 24 hours before your blood draw, as it can skew your cholesterol results.
