How to prepare

  1. 1
Fasting: Do not eat or drink anything except water for 4 to 8 hours before the test. This ensures food does not temporarily raise your levels
  2. 2
Avoid Alcohol: Stop drinking alcohol for 24 hours before the test
  3. 3
Review Medications: Tell your healthcare provider about all medicines, vitamins, and supplements you take. Some medicines increase bilirubin, while others decrease it.
  4. 4
Avoid Strenuous Exercise: Do not do hard workouts right before your test. Hard exercise can affect your liver enzymes and bilirubin.
